Who killed Emirhan Yalçın?

 The Fatal Stabbings of Turkish Teenagers


Syrian Nationals stabbed two teenagers one lost his life.

A fight broke out between the (unarmed) Turkish teenagers and (armed) Syrian nationals on 10 August 2021. The teenagers who were stabbed sustained heavy injuries and taken to the hospital. The locals protested the Syrian nationals,
meanwhile one of the teenagers, Emirhan Yalçın, aged 18, lost his life in the hospital.

No day passes without a (tragic) incident in the country. The video footages of those who have been entering the country by illegal means while remains a hot topic, the number of crimes committed by foreign nationals goes up each day.

Battalgazi, a neighbourhood in Altındağ / Ankara, was in chaos after the stabbing incidents.

According to the witness statements, a group of Syrian nationals attacked 2 Turkish teenagers, aged 16 and18. The Syrian mob stabbed the Turkish teenagers with their knives. 

While the 16 year old is still being treated for his stab wounds, Emirhan Yalçın (18), lost his life at the Emergency Department.

Istanbul MP, Ümit Özdağ Visited the Survival of the Vicious Attack

Mr  Özdağ, an Istanbul MP from the opposition party CHP,  shared the sad news with the social media:

Unfortunately, Emir Yalçın had severe injuries when arrived at the Dışkapı Hospital and he couldn't be saved. Our hearts go out to his family who are mourning at the hospital. 

Ali Yasin Ülger, the second victim of vicious knife attack in Ankara.

 Mr Özdağ also visited the other teenage victim, Ali Yasin Ülger. The 16 year old survival told Mr Özdağ that: 

A group of Syrian nationals were damaging the public property (garden lamps) and swearing their heads off. We told them  there were families and kids around and asked them to watch the tone of their language. A Syrian national, aged 26, walked up to us with his friends and told us that we had a death wish. He pulled a knife out of his pocket started stabbing us.

At least 99 Arrests Have Been Made 

The locals of Battalgazi expressed their disappointment and anger at the government and Erdogan's border and nationality policies by smashing the windows of some shops and cars that were believed to be owned by Syrians. The local authorities who failed to provide safety for the Turkish residents, were quick to send out special armed forces in large numbers to the neighbourhood. When the crowds continued chanting against the Syrian mobs, the police initially arrested 76 Turkish residents. 

Although no physical harm had come from the local residents, the western media and Turkey's pro-Erdogan press focused on the aftermath of the events, depicting the Turkish citizens who are bearing the brunt of cataclysmic western war policies, as being xenophobic, racist, far-right extremists, pogroms and ultra-nationalists. Yahya Abdo arrested a day later by the Turkish police. In his statement, he told the police that he did not own a knife but found one on the lawn in the park. He admitted stabbing Emirhan and Ali and told the police that (accomplishing his vicious actions) he felt scared and ran away from the (crime) scene.

By 25 September 2021 as many as 99 Turkish citizens had been arrested, 4 were given prison sentences and 27 were placed under house arrests by the Public Prosecutor of Ankara. [4]
