Sexual Harassment on Marmaray, Istanbul
A foreign national who was caught filming women on the busy metro, Marmaray, was unashamed of his act.
The Turkish women who were travelling on the same train, fortunately noticed that they were being photographed by a foreign man and told him to delete the images on his phone. The foreign national appears to pretend not to understand what was going on at first, but after the young and distressed women grabbed his phone and revealed the images on his phone, he was heard saying "OK, delete them then." The young women became very angry after finding out that he had already shared their photographs with his friends. Allegedly, the man left the train at the next stop and disappeared into the crowds.
In the last ten years, over ten million foreign nationals namely Syrians, Afghans, Iraqis, Iranians and lately Pakistanis have illegally entered the country. In such countries women and young girls are often seen as a sexual object to be exploited. There is a growing tension between the country's residents and foreign nationals.
